Arne Norell for Aneby Møbler, ‘Ilona’ lounge chair, buffalo leather, bouclé white fabric and beech wood, Sweden, 1970s.

The ‘Ilona’ lounge chair was designed by Swedish furniture designer Arne Norell in 1971. The wooden frame in solid beech wood, held together by strong leather supports without glue or screws, is characterised by the circular diameters of the woods. The clear and strong lines end at the top with a slight twist. Beautiful thick buffalo leather is spanned to the beech frame to create the seating. A very clever construction which creates a stunning contrast both in materials and colour. Soft cushions made of white bouclé fabric are placed in the seat for optimal support. A well designed piece that features organic forms and exquisite materials. The cushions have been reupholstered by experienced craftsmen and are in excellent condition. A white bouclé fabric was chosen creating a striking contrast with the natural tones of the wood and leather.
The beech wood frame and the leather are in good, used condition with traces of age and use.
